UNICO - BEST USE INSTRUCTIONS

The aim of the UNICO project is that of eliminating the acoustic limits intrinsic in conventional speakers: the stationary internal waves and the external diffraction of the "furnishing-parallelepiped". A shape has been created that stops such degenerative waves from emerging. The additional use of an exceptional speaker, one capable of reproducing eight octaves on its own, has eliminated the need for crossover, with all the subsequent advantages. The result is a speaker with extremely realistic, harmonious sound, highly detailed perspective reconstruction, never tiring and spatially well-located.

BEST USE INSTRUCTIONS

UNICO is a speaker with extremely high acoustic qualities. However, getting the best results requires care and attention.

• UNICO is designed for environments 30 square metres in size. The ideal amplifier is between 20-80 watts RMS per channel, best if valvular and/or Class A. Remember, a smaller than necessary amplifier used to the maximum is more dangerous than one twice as powerful used with care.
• The maximum useable volume is not the maximum extent of the amplifier control knob! USE THE AMPLIFIER TO A MAXIMUM 6/10 OF VOLUME. The first hint of sound "hardening" and then distortion indicates that the physical limit of the speaker-amplifier system has been reached.
• UNICO is an extremely linear loudspeaker so tonal controls are DISCONNECTED (FLAT) or set on 0 (zero). Whenever there's significant acoustic deficit in an environment it's best to seek a better position than to use tonal controls. In any case, whatever action is taken, reduce the volume proportionally. Bear in mind that placing speakers close to a wall increases bass sound, and vice-versa.
• For normal volume use keep the Loudness control disconnected. (OFF)
• The best listening position is obtained by placing speakers on the same plane and directed towards a point one metre in front of the listener. Seen as an isosceles triangle, the speakers are placed at either end of the base line and the listener at the opposing third point. When considering height, bear in mind the directionality of the acoustic system and thus ear height in any given listening position.
• UNICO achieves maximum performance after around 300 hours of listening, but already shows its capabilities after 100 hours. During this period sound can be somewhat sombre or strident: don't exaggerate with volume and/or tonal controls. The quality will emerge with time!
• All speakers are delivered tested and partially run-in.
